Amazing vintage silver plated james dixon & sons teapot and sugar bowl set from shefield. James dixon & sons (james dixon & sons), founded 1806 in sheffield, was one of the major british manufacturers of the industrial revolution. They were manufacturers of pewterware, electroplated britannia metal, silverware and electroplated nickel silver. This set belongs to the period between 1835 and 1920. In the metropolitan museum in new york they have a piece by this company and I am not surprised, really, because it is absolutely stuning. The set is in good vintage condition, but has some dents, which does not detract from its charm. The lid of the sugar bowl has lost part of the leaf, as can be seen in the photos. I recommend zooming in to see every detail perfectly. The teapot weighs 850 grams and measures 28 cm wide, 18 cm deep and 14 cm high. The sugar bowl weighs 700 gr and measures 20 cm wide, 17 cm deep and 13 cm high.
