1920s Art Deco Celluloid Mother of Pearl & Tortoiseshell Table Lamp

A very scarce original art deco table lamp, made of wood and decorated all over in alternating panels of celluloid made to resemble inlaid mother of pearl and tortoiseshell. It has a wide polygonal base and tapered stem. The ½” thread for the lamp-holder indicates that it is English in origin, and will date to around the 1920s. The lamp has been dismantled, cleaned and rewired with a brand new British-made chrome-plated brass B22 bayonet lamp-holder and a generous length of antique-style twisted 3-core cable with an old gold silk braid. A rare survivor in this condition – no cracks, chips, nibbles or looseness to the celluloid panels, only very minor, very isolated surface marks, and some very slight gaps between the panels due to natural wood shrinkage.
