Superb cascade bookshelf model 476 from Ercol, 1970s.

Authentic waterfall bookcase edited by the prestigious British manufacturer Ercol, model 476. Designed in 1979, this piece perfectly embodies the refinement of post-war modernist design and English craftsmanship. This furniture is entirely made of high-quality solid elm (shelves, uprights, doors, and structure). Elm is a noble wood particularly sought after by collectors for its wild, sinuous, and highly graphic grain. The piece showcases its original dark finish, a deep, warm hue that enhances the natural contrast of the wood fibres and gives the piece an elegant and subdued presence. The design is distinguished by its "waterfall" silhouette: the side uprights describe a fluid curve that tapers towards the top, visually lightening the structure while maximising light penetration on the shelves. With its ideal proportions and small footprint, this piece integrates easily into contemporary interiors, whether in a living room, office, or welcoming entrance. This piece is in excellent original vintage condition. The solid elm structure is perfectly sound, rigid, and stable. Very discreet and light superficial signs of use: fine micro-scratches. It still has its original round and gold label "Ercol - Made in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England" inside the furniture.
