Magnificent secretary in mahogany and mahogany veneer, dating from the early nineteenth century, empire period stamped pierre-benoit marcion (1769-1840), supplier of napoleon 1st. It opens by a drawer in belt, a flap covered with a golden leather with a small iron, discovering a locker and eight drawers, one of square shape surrounded by 6 small surmounted by a large one making all the width, in the lower part it opens not three drawers. Top of black marble from belgium. Pillars decorated with gilded bronze caryatids surmounting gilded bronze palmettes. Lion muzzle pull handles. Feet in wooden claws painted in imitation of patinated bronze. Lock entrances also in chiseled and gilded bronze representing griffins and antique vases, also presence of swans in chiseled and gilded bronze on the bottom of each pillar. Era worsens. Early nineteenth century. Pierre-benoît marcion cabinetmaker. Paris. Was one of the suppliers of napoleon I. From the time of the directoire, he ran a workshop and a cabinet shop, rue neuve-des-petits-champs, then rue helvétius and finally rue saint-marc.
