Danish coat rack no. 20 by Nissen & Gehl for Aksel Kjersgaard, 1960s

Danish coat rack 'Nr 20' designed in the 70s by Søren Nissen & Ebbe Gehl and manufactured by Aksel Kjersgaard. This solid wooden coat rack has adjustable concealed arms which creates a playful look. The 16 turned wooden knobs ensure that you can hang many clothes on it. The wide and heavy base provides the necessary stability. The Scandinavian coat rack is in very nice vintage condition and is marked at the bottom as a sign of authenticity. Aksel Kjersgaard was both a designer and a manufacturer at the height of the Danish mid-century modern movement. He collaborated with iconic designer Kai Kristiansen and with Ebbe Gehl & Søren Nissen, each time creating furniture with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. Kjersgaard's contribution to Danish (and Scandinavian) design history is undoubtedly significant, and the pieces have now become coveted items among vintage enthusiasts.
