The master glassmaker first shaped a solid core of fuchsia pink glass, which was then immersed in a bath of molten crystal to encase it in a thick protective and transparent layer (Sommerso). The spectacular twist (spiral twist) was achieved entirely while hot: the glassmaker grasped the glowing mass with forging tongs and applied a kinetic rotational movement to twist the structure while maintaining the integrity of the light and the thickness of the walls.
