This beautiful antique chair is made of bent wood, certainly from the Fischel or Thonet house. It is a child's chair that takes the shape of bistro chairs from the 1940s-1950s: the bent wood structure. This bent wood furniture was the success of the Thonet brothers, who created the wood bending process in Vienna around 1840. Like Thonet, many craftsmen began producing bent wood furniture from the 1870s until the 1960s. The most well-known are J.J Kohn, Fischel, Baumann, etc. The seat measures 32 cm in diameter and is 30 cm high. The backrest reaches a height of 66 cm. There is no mark to precisely attribute this furniture. I note signs of use: dents, scratches on the wood, and stains. The wood had been treated with a grey stain, and the underside of the seat is painted in a brown shade.
