Old wooden chair in the style of Pierre Cruège.

This vintage chair combines a light wood frame with a slatted backrest made up of round bars framed by two wide rectangular uprights. The seat, woven in a tight checkerboard pattern of fine strips, adds flexibility and visual lightness to the whole, while the honey patina of the wood highlights the natural grain. The overall line, simple and graphic, directly evokes the work of designers like Pierre Cruège. This functionalist aesthetic, embraced by a whole generation of French designers in the immediate post-war period, favoured lightweight structures and seats made from natural materials (straw, rush, caning) for chairs that are both understated and comfortable. Perfect for enthusiasts of brutalist and rustic chic styles. Dimensions: H 84.5 X W 40 X D 37.5 cm (Seat height 44.5 cm).
