Rare Victorian adjustable armchair by J. Alderman, London

A rare and unusual Victorian invalid chair by J. Alderman, 16 Soho Square, London. Originally part of a system designed to lift and assist invalids. This example is not fully complete, but remains a beautiful and highly decorative piece. Crafted in solid mahogany with elegant turned legs and original brass castors. Retains its original brass maker’s plate and green upholstered seat and back, offering a very comfortable seating experience. Very good antique condition with light wear consistent with age and use. Structurally solid. A unique piece, perfect for interior, study or library.
