Exceptional collector's piece from Vallauris, signed Jérôme MASSIER, Art Deco period. Large format, a major reference piece by Jérôme MASSIER. Jérôme MASSIER: 1820-1909, son of Clément MASSIER. His work is recognised for its finesse and elegance. He partnered with his son Jean-Baptiste to continue the family legacy. Characteristics: • Manufacturing: Pottery Jérôme MASSIER Vallauris Alpes Maritimes • Signature: Stamped "JEROME MASSIER VALLAURIS A.M." underneath + engraved signature with a point before firing J. MASSIER on the edge of the dish • Decor: Cloisonné barbotine "Fields of Flowers" Red poppies, cornflowers, daisies, ears of wheat on a sandy granulated background, period glossy glaze • Technique: Each flower outlined in brown/black wire, scalloped yellow/chocolate brown border • Condition: Very good overall condition, bright glaze and colours. Some minor superficial chips on the visible border, without any through cracks.
