I conducted a real little investigation to find the origin of this beautiful handmade ceramic vase! It is signed "sitar" without further indication. After some research, I found another ceramic signed "sitar" but with in addition the mention "bm" attached... After the (false) track "bézard et mousseux", I then came across the trail of the sitar family in baia mare (hence the letters bm on other ceramics) in the maramures region of romania. It is a family of ceramists, very famous in romania and beyond. They make unique pieces, entirely by hand, according to ancestral techniques, transmitted from generation to generation. I have not managed to date this vase, it is up to you to see if you want to continue the investigation! It is enamelled inside too, and can therefore serve as a pitcher (but it does not have a spout) or a vase. It is beautifully decorated in warm colors: ecru, caramel, khaki green and brown. It is in very good condition, no crack, just two tiny chips on the enamel at the lower edge. It measures 22 cm in height, about 17 cm in width with the handle, 14 cm in maximum diameter. It weighs 870 g.
