Enfilade Kofod Larsen, 1960s in teak. Very good condition, woodwork restored. Kofod-Larsen often works with precious woods, such as teak or rosewood, as well as rich leathers. His work is characterised by clean and sculptural lines. The U-56, or Elizabeth Chair (1956), made of a light teak frame and upholstery leather, is one of his most notable pieces. It is said to have been named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II after she purchased a pair during a visit to Denmark in 1958. Among his famous pieces, the Penguin Chair (1953) is also noteworthy, modern and airy. The latter (sometimes referred to as The Shell), produced by Petersens in Denmark, features a curved backrest that embraces the seat. Throughout his career, he enjoyed considerable success with the Selig company, which imported and sold thousands of pieces (sofas, lounge chairs, and others in various woods and upholstery fabrics) in the American market from the 1950s onwards. The stunning Sälen (or Seal) armchairs in leather and teak by Kofod-Larsen for OPE (1950) are now very popular in the vintage market.
