Description
This rare tea service produced by rometti in the 1940s was most probably designed by dante baldelli, who at that time was the artistic director of the factory, which took the name s.a.c.r.u. (sociatà anonima ceramiche rometti) for the entire period in which he worked there. One can see in the design of the service the modern lines and decisive yet mellow colours (such as coral red) of baldelli's work, whose work was greatly influenced by the modernist drive and the work of the young gio ponti. The service consists of: 12 cups (4.5hx13.5ø cm); 12 saucers (14.5ø cm); 12 dessert plates (19ø cm); 1 teapot (cm 16.5hx20x15.5); 1 milk jug (8.5hx12ø cm); 1 sugar bowl (8.5hx13.5ø cm). The service is in very good condition except for two dessert plates, one with a small chipping and another with a chipping and a missing part. There are also some barely visible stains on the saucers.
