Important cylinder desk from the Louis XVI period in marquetry: rosewood and violet wood, sycamore, amaranth, boxwood, stained wood. The front opens to eight drawers and a cylinder revealing drawers and compartments, a sliding shelf with a leather work surface, and two side cabinets. A secret unlocking system activated by keys. Decoration on all sides in marquetry, alternating light and dark woods: geometric patterns, squares and diamonds. In the centre of the cylinder is a large rectangle with cubic patterns resembling a lattice. Feet covered in blackened wood. Ornamentation of an openwork gallery in a gilded finish, topped with tassels. A wonderful piece of high-quality cabinetmaking from the 18th century. H143/138/63.
