Gérard hofmann vallauris - manganese red cup - signed - 50s. Very nice room. Vintage ceramics. Typical of the production of this ceramist who knew how to work the manganese red to perfection. Signed hof for gérard hofmann - impeccable condition (see presentation of the artist by c.lavenu below) Size: Diameter: 15 cm. Height: 5 cm. Weight excluding packaging: 400 g. *gérard hofmann (1917–1965)* French painter and ceramist. Born in 1917, gérard hofmann began a career as a painter before turning to ceramics. In vallauris, he entered as a decorator in the ceramics workshop cérenne in vallauris. Charles rené neveux is the creator of this factory, which takes its name from the contraction of its corporate name "céramique rené neveux". Very active from 1949 to 1959, this workshop, which employs about fifty people including twenty decorators, produces utilitarian ceramics and unique pieces for france and internationally. From 1959, rené grout assisted by his son robert managed this factory until its closure in 1994. After 1959, gérard hofmann left 'cérenne' and opened with his wife christiane his own workshop, road from the col de saint antoine to vallauris. The couple produces utilitarian ceramics and decorative unique pieces like roller vases and mirrors. The production is sold among other things in the ceramic sales store 'la bergerie', created by azais françoise. A specialist in manganese red, gérard hofmann produces pieces of remarkable quality. He also worked with fernand léger in biot.
