Belgium / 1960 / / Plaquette city view / Amphora / Elisabeth Vandeweghe / ceramics / Mid-century / Vintage. Vintage wall mounted ceramic plaquette by Elisabeth Vandeweghe for Amphora featuring a a colourful village scene with striking red and black houses and trees. Elisabeth makes playful use of the clay with different patterns and glazes and a nice color pallet. The bold contrast of red and black and the brutal use of the clay creates a dramatic effect, making it perfect for both contemporary and traditional interiors. Elisabeth grew up and worked for the famous ceramics atelier Amphora. In 1947, Rogier and Laurent Vandeweghe founded the artistic ceramic studios Perignem in Beernem, "per ignem" or "by fire" in Latin. Some years later the ceramic atelier Amphora in Brugge was founded. Ref. 25-0161.
