The first glance captures the obvious: a clean, taut, straightforward line. Beauty comes later, carried by use, by time. It is born from this form that yields nothing, from this material that assumes its patina, from this comfort that surprises. And in a world saturated with transient objects, this quartet imposes another temporality. That of duration, of the right weight, of presence without emphasis. One might think these chairs are austere. But all you have to do is sit down. All you have to do is run your hand over the wood, follow its curve, feel its warmth. Then doubt disappears. The fiber is there, the palpable material. The wood, blond, patinated, alive. And this black, matte, deep, which speaks of rigor, which asserts. And what is at stake there is perhaps an idea of balance. A posture. A way of being in the world. Anchored, upright, without arrogance. Just enough to make you forget the rest. And then comes the seat. The arch fits. The pelvis finds its axis. A correct posture, a natural fit, warmth too. It's a clear comfort. A comfort without softness. It doesn't lull you to sleep - it supports you. In its own way, it keeps you awake. These chairs don't lie. Their history is well-known, their lineage certain - Martin Stoll (1920-2012), West Germany, in the very early 1980s. And before him, a company founded in 1871 by a cabinetmaker grandfather, passed down, enriched, without ever losing its focus. And these four examples, rare heirs to a lost knowledge, extend the gesture of the origins. They still bear the mark of a hand guided by rigor, of an eye trained in the right detail. These are pieces that you no longer encounter - or very rarely. -- Dimensions (cm): 80.5 (H) X 56.5 (W) X 50 (D) X 46 (H seat) Weight (per unit): 11.6 kg Origin & Period: Martin Stoll - Germany, c. 1978/82 Overall condition: B + (7.2/10) Rating established according to our internal scale.
