An elegant, comfortable piece that is especially easy to integrate into contemporary decor. The crapaud armchair appeared in the 19th century and became particularly popular during the Second Empire. It is recognised by its low, enveloping silhouette and generously padded structure, with a rounded back that typically extends towards the armrests. Traditionally very dressed, it is often associated with velvet, fringes, and trimmings. The model presented here is a vintage interpretation from the 1970s. It retains the enveloping look of the traditional crapaud armchair but with a construction that corresponds to its era. An important point: this is not a traditional seat made by hand by an upholsterer. We are dealing with a mechanical seat of industrial manufacture, typical of chairs produced in series during the 20th century. This detail is important when purchasing vintage furniture: the appearance follows the codes of the traditional crapaud armchair, but its construction is modern and industrial; the seat is comfortable and pleasant for daily use. It is naturally lightweight for transport and handling. These armchairs have survived around fifty years and do not claim to have come out of the factory yesterday morning. Despite all the care taken, discreet signs of time may remain. They are consistent with their age and usage. Each armchair has been thoroughly cleaned and treated before being put up for sale. No holes and no major stains; the velvet presents a nice overall appearance and the seat is comfortable.
