This is a Louis XVI style side table, most likely made between 1900 and 1930. It is not an original Louis XVI piece but a neoclassical reinterpretation, highly valued during the Belle Époque and the interwar period for bourgeois interiors. Materials and structure. Structure: Cream/ off-white painted wood with a deliberately aged patina. Top: Pink marble veined with white, probably red marble from Languedoc or incarnate. A small crack is visible on the wood, typical for these tops. Base: 4 tapered and fluted legs, characteristic of the Louis XVI style. They are joined by a cross-shaped stretcher with concave sides, featuring a decorative fillet. Decoration: Sculpted belt with a frieze of posts, and small cubes with rosettes at the top of the legs. A very elegant and light ensemble.
