French antique writing desk in walnut, Louis XVI style, late 19th century, circa 1880–1900.

An antique French writing desk dating from the late 19th century, made of solid walnut. The desk is designed in the Louis XVI style and features fluted tapered legs, carved corner blocks, and a hand-carved floral garland decorating the front frieze. The desk is equipped with a full-width drawer and is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed against a wall or as a freestanding piece in a room. The top and moulded edge show signs of old woodworm holes, which have been treated preventively, and the wood has been finished with furniture wax. This treatment has made the holes less visible while preserving the authentic appearance and character of the wood. The desk remains in good antique condition with normal signs of age and use, including surface wear, minor marks, and an old ring stain on the top. It is structurally sound and ready for use.
