Sumptuous Art Nouveau wardrobe in beautiful blond wood (probably beech) dating from the very beginning of the 20th century. A partial inscription behind the mirror suggests that it may date from 1909. Of fine stature, it imprints its personality on a room without "devouring" it. Its presence is in fact moderated by its limited depth, its beautiful luminosity and its original beveled mirror. To the right, the beautiful mirrored door opens onto a hanging space with its shelf and retractable rod which allows clothes to be hung facing you (and thus reduces the depth of the piece of furniture). The door, like the one on the left, opens and closes with an original key and beautiful double-bolt locks, as was often the case in these beautiful solid furniture at the time. Note the elegance of the brass keyholes, finely chiseled with floral decorations and stylized geometric lines typical of Art Nouveau. On the left, the door opens onto 3 fixed shelves, below which are two drawers with superb fronts in original gilded pull handles. All of this offers comfortable storage space. Note the magnificent pediment with rolled ends and adorned with discreet but very melancholic shapes; as well as the superb front legs, very "vegetal". This wardrobe is full of subtle but very well-made details - it was a high-end piece of furniture. The patina is original, and there are small defects such as slightly darker stains here and there, usual wear but nothing major. Likewise, it is solid and stable but there are some plays here and there in the assembly of some parts (with no impact other than visual on the furniture). Because it is disassemblable and is fixed with only 6 lag screws! There is also an astonishing system on the central plinth of the back. H: 228 cm. W: 120 cm (overall). D: 48 cm. The price is firm, thank you.
