Ornamental commode in marquetry, marble, winged figures - Napoleon III

Spectacular sculptural chest of drawers in marquetry and marble, remarkable for the richness of its decor and its theatrical appearance. The curved front features two large drawers adorned with floral marquetry and scroll motifs, highlighted by numerous patinated and gilded metal fittings. The sides are the most spectacular element of the piece: large winged female figures, inspired by the vocabulary of sphinxes and caryatids, extend into powerful curved legs ending in clawed feet. This architecture gives the piece an almost sculptural presence. The whole is topped with a thick veined beige marble top, extensively shaped, with curves that perfectly follow the silhouette of the piece. A characterful item, both decorative and functional, ideal as a chest of drawers, display console, or a true statement piece in an entrance, living room, or dining room.
