Soumak/Mafrash vintage rug

A spectacular handmade vintage rug incorporating different styles of carpet weaving and designed to be a large saddle bag for a camel. These items are very desirable and are deployed to create beautiful carpets or wall hangings. Although vintage, this item shows no signs of wear, which is very unusual in such items. Although the closest option available to describe this carpet on the selency is "persian", it is not actually persian, but woven by nomadic tribes from the caucasus who have wandered into parts of northern iran but are more associated with the regions of kazakhstan and russia.
