Empty pocket bowl in majolica - M.G. Molaroni Pesaro, Italy Circa 1950

This rectangular piece with delicately scalloped and wavy edges comes from the renowned Molaroni factory in Pesaro, one of the great names in Italian art ceramics since the 19th century. It bears the handwritten signature "M.G. Molaroni Pesaro" underneath. The decoration, entirely hand-painted, is of great finesse. It features a profusion of arabesques and scrolls in vibrant hues (turquoise blue, ochre-orange, old pink, olive green) enclosing delicate white flowers, all set against a very soft cream background. The two larger sides are highlighted by a wide graphic black band adorned with stylised patterns, providing a beautiful modern contrast to the whole. As decorative as it is functional, this dish will be perfect as a key bowl in an entrance, on a dressing table to hold jewellery, or simply displayed on a sideboard. Features & Condition.
