Maitland-Smith tessellated marble and brass sideboard 1980s

This sideboard by Maitland-Smith exemplifies the maximalist movement of the late 20th century. The piece is entirely clad in a hand-assembled mosaic of grey and black tessellated stone. Each panel displays a subtle organic tonal variation that creates a tactile depth across the geometric forms. The brass inlay lines the borders of the top, four cabinet doors, and the neoclassical style Roman columns. The inside opens to reveal a spacious and clean original grey interior with integrated shelving, offering substantial storage space without compromising its sculptural silhouette. Remains in very good condition. The handmade tessellated stone veneer is entirely intact and free of cracks, chips, or missing tiles. The surface finish is clean and shows no notable scratches, staining, or signs of past restoration work. The back panel has been modified with two cleanly cut intentional access holes designed to route wiring for audio components and media gear. Aside from this functional modification, the sideboard presents beautifully with only minor, age-appropriate wear consistent with careful residential use.
