Magnificent antique coffee service from the 19th century in Limoges porcelain "Léon Sazerat 1831-1891" Comprising 12 cups and saucers - 1 coffee pot - 1 sugar bowl - 1 milk jug. Relief floral decoration with gilding (Oriental Japonism) The dimensions in the advertisement correspond to the coffee pot. Dimensions of a cup for scale: Height 6.5 cm, diameter 6.2 cm. Very good condition except for a hairline crack on one cup (visible in the photos) and a small chip on the lid of the sugar bowl. Training: Unlike most local porcelain makers of the time, he trained at the Sèvres factory. Style: He draws inspiration from Japonism and Orientalism, similar to the ceramist Théodore Deck. Distinctions: He received an honourable mention at the 1855 World Exposition and a gold medal at the Paris Exposition in 1878. In 1888, he was decorated by President Sadi Carnot.
