Art Nouveau cast iron coat rack

Superb Art Nouveau entrance hall coat stand in cast iron, combining coat hooks and umbrella stands. This decorative and functional piece dates from around 1900 and features particularly rich cast iron work. The slender structure is adorned with numerous scrolls and plant motifs characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. The upper hooks allow for the hanging of coats, jackets, or hats, while a central ring holds umbrellas or walking sticks. The base is equipped with a white enamelled metal drip tray designed to collect water from umbrellas. This is framed by an original decoration of coiled snakes, a decorative motif very typical of the naturalistic aesthetic of the late 19th century. A moulded inscription is visible at the back: N.M 1713, likely corresponding to the model number of a foundry. The entire piece has been fully restored and now presents a beautiful black patina that highlights the finesse of the details.
