Pair of brass bookends, sculptural swans in Art Nouveau style.

A very beautiful pair of large brass bookends representing two stylised swans, in an elegant Art Nouveau style. The two swans have long, slender silhouettes, with gracefully curved necks and magnificent wings raised with intricately worked feathers. Their exceptional size of 38.5cm and 39.5cm in height gives them a lovely decorative presence. They will be just as elegant in a library framing some beautiful books as they would be alone on a console, a chest of drawers, or a shelf. The brass has just been carefully cleaned and polished, revealing a lovely golden colour. Darker shades naturally remain in some of the recesses of the decor, highlighting the details of the relief.
