Sculpture created by Robert Neuhauser in Switzerland, around 1985, in diabase, a black volcanic stone with a particularly dense structure. Carved from a monolithic block, the composition combines rough and polished surfaces in a subtle play of contrasts. Organic curves gradually emerge from the mineral mass, revealing the depth of the stone and the precision of the sculpting work. From the 1980s onwards, Robert Neuhauser developed an important series of stone sculptures where refined shapes and architectural volumes interact with the natural qualities of the material. This research was notably presented during the exhibition Arbeiten in Stein at the Sigristenkeller Gallery in Bülach in 1989. Born in Altnau, Switzerland, Robert Neuhauser successively explores wood, stone, bronze, and cellular concrete, developing a body of work where the sobriety of forms highlights the material. Switzerland, circa 1985.
