Armchair jacob & josef kohn. A rare model, exclusive to the kohn house, declined from its chair n°48, where inside the frame of the backrest are literally set two twin loops forming like two butterfly wings. The technical mastery of wood curving here marries in the most refined way the "organic" inspiration of art nouveau. -- if the chair format appears in the catalogs from 1904 to 1910, it is only in the catalog for the american market and the new york store of 1909 that we find the armchair format, in a range of silhouettes certainly more popular in the states as shown by the double page of the catalog which brings together the variations of the original no. 48 to no. 243 if original. "our copy is in its original blond walnut patina. I report a slight recess (see photo) of the canning buckles on the front edge of the seat, the groove of passage of the strands having deviated slightly in time at this place – a tightening of safety was operated by the inside of the belt. The holding of the cannage - which is not damaged - is not compromised, and the general frame of the seat does not suffer from any snags. Stable, solid, waxed seat, ready to install at the dining table, living room, or office chair (cuff shoulders). Collector's piece of viennese curved wood. For the record, we found the model n°243, among other places of the belle époque, at the café opéra in berlin. -- height 96 cm, seat height 46 cm, seat 46.5 X 47.5 cm, width between the shoulders 48 cm. --delivery all france, professional invoice.
