“Christ King in Our Home” Plaster Statue, Belgium, ca. 1920

This devotional plaster statue depicts Christ the King, standing with one hand raised in blessing and the other pointing to the Sacred Heart. The inscription on the base, “VLYS KONING IN ONS HUIS!” (“Christ King in Our Home!”), reflects a popular Flemish Catholic domestic devotion that spread through Belgium in the early 20th century. The figure’s elongated proportions, stylized drapery, and serene expression align with interwar ecclesiastical sculpture, often produced by regional workshops for parish and private altars. The smooth plaster surface was typical of devotional statuary intended for interior display. Good vintage condition with minor signs of use consistent with age; light surface wear but nothing that affects structure or overall appearance.
