Description
Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 81 cm X 65 cm. Bouquet of neo morandi arums. Signed lower right: m.debever. The morandi style. Giorgio morandi (20 july 1890 – 18 june 1964) was a contemporary italian painter and engraver. It can be clearly identified with a specific school of painting. Cézanne's work represents his major influence: he borrows from him the monumentality of forms and dense areas of color. The artist develops an intimate approach to art. Guided by a formal sensibility of great refinement, he gives his landscapes and still lifes a subtle delicacy of tone and drawing, arousing in the viewer a contemplative mode. Still lifes are the most important part of giorgio morandi's work. They represent carefully ordered objects on a table in the workshop, to be observed and painted. These objects are easily identifiable from canvas to canvas; these are bottles or jars recovered from flea markets or given as gifts by friends or found on the street, and "painted in different colors for the tonal construction of the whole".
