It is characterized by its thick wool in ecru tones and by its diamond-shaped geometric patterns, often black or brown. However, they are now found with brightly colored patterns. Originally, the beni ouarain carpet is also characterized by its very large size. Indeed, the beni ouarain tribe comes from the middle atlas, so it is subject to a harsh climate.
