Description
Ostindie. Feldspar porcelain. Ostindia, voted "service of the century" in sweden, owes its existence to a hidden treasure. After a ship returning from china sank off the coast of gothenburg in 1745, a porcelain fragment of the cargo somehow ended up in a closet at the rörstrand factory. Many years later, in 1932, the wife of the factory manager, knut almström, spotted him and uttered the famous words: "knut, I think it would be worth doing something with it... ». This is how a shard of chinese porcelain became the model of an iconic design by rörstrand.
