Holmegaard, originally established in 1825, is Denmark's oldest and largest glass manufacturer. Although most of his early productions were considered minor, between the 1930s and 1980s, the drawings of Jacob e. Bang, per letken and his son Michael were reputed to have transformed the company into an important center of danish design. In 1965, Holmegaard merged with manufacturers Kastrup, Hellerup and Fyens to become Kastrup Og Holmegaards. Holmegaard is now the leading glass producer in Denmark, producing both mouth-blown and machine-blown glass. The epoke lamps were designed in 1975 by Michael bang as a series of bathroom lighting including two wall lamps and a ceiling light. Produced at Holmegaard in mouth-blown glass with rubber bands that ensure perfect waterproofing, while providing the ability to adjust the direction of light as needed. The series was produced in four colors; red, white, green and brown. Epoke lamps are highly sought after, especially because they have become very rare over the past decade.
