Description
Very pretty worker in wicker and print fabric in which our grandmothers stored the work in the process of being made: knitting often, but also embroidery, canvas... It must date back to the 1960s. Its square shape, less widespread than the round, and its 4 feet close together allow it to find its place easily, even in a small space. Its handle and its lightness make it easy to move. The fabric is original, it has a closing cord, it is attached to the basket and the bottom is lined with a small plank of unmovable wood. I cleaned this worker carefully (vacuumed and then with great water). This small piece of furniture is stable and still very solid but it also has the defects that go with its age: various spots and marks on the rattan. The fabric is damaged: two holes "stitched" with the red thread and small tears (see photos) at the top edge of the basket. One of these tears appears to have been glued. Tears cannot be stitched in this area, but a piece of fabric can be added inside (glued or sewn) to prevent them from getting bigger. The fabric has become fragile in the places where it is attached to the basket, it will have to be handled with delicacy but it can also be replaced when the time comes, to give this charming worker a new life of 60 more years! This worker is 45 cm tall (not including anse) and 34.5 cm on the side. It weighs about 1 kg.
