Description
Patinated resin head on a log base depicting the rider rampin, after an original marble work dated around 550 bc.c, discovered in 1877 on the acropolis of athens. The identity of the character is unknown. He is most certainly a member of the athenian aristocracy. This sculpture owes its name to georges rampin who bequeathed it to the louvre museum. The torso and fragments of the horse are kept in the acropolis museum. The sculpture is 35 cm high, including the base. In a very good state of conservation. The base shows some lack of paint.
