Lamp juliette derel and jean rivier 1950 1960 ceramic

Very nice little lamp of jeans rivier and juliette derel (signature of the rare couple because divorced 3 months after the opening of their joint workshop, Juliette derel is a french ceramist born in gisors in normandy. Juliette derel entered the school of fine arts in tours in 1937. After a brief introduction to ceramics she decided in 1949 to settle in vallauris. In 1953 she married the ceramist jean rivier with whom she made a joint production until 1961. Juliette derel, while still producing utilitarian pieces, turned to sculpture. In particular, it produces unique pieces made up of geometric elements assembled around a metal structure. She will exhibit in france on numerous occasions, as well as abroad in montreal caracas, prague.  Jean rivier was one of the members of the group of "potters of vallauris", high place of ceramics from 1930 to 1970, with pablo picasso, jean marais, jean gerbino, roger capron, robert picault, alexandre kostanda, jean derval or jacques innocenti. Jean rivier moved to vallauris in 1952 with juliette derel. They both produced a recognized work of ceramics decorated with modernist geometric patterns, engraved or painted by hand. In 1955, jean rivier participated in a traveling exhibition of pottery from the vallauris group in about thirty american museums. Professor of ceramics at the school of fine arts of tours from 1973, jean rivier also devoted himself to lithogravure and poetry. More info ask me.
