Description
Ref. 2121 - from the art nouveau period, this exceptional enamelled earthenware underside, probably originally musical, in good condition. Carved wooden base on 4 small turned legs with screwed bottom. Floral decoration in a medallion with volutes of 2 young women in stylized light dresses. Beautiful polychrome enamelling. Unscrewed, the tile is signed "paris j g givet" (photo). No cracks, just tiny micro-chips on the edge of the tile and wear and tear of normal use. All the many photos complete this detailed description. Very neat expedition and followed in relay point when possible. For information, this factory was founded in 1780 by jean gambier in givet in the french ardennes. Famous manufacturer of earthen pipes, he is mentioned in ancient almanacs of the paris trade as a manufacturer and trader of porcelain and crystal. The gambier family even worked in sèvres.
