Description
Oil on canvas measuring 46 x 61 cm signed at the bottom right E Welsh . It represents a city with its cathedral (perhaps Chartres because it painted a few times this subject. Emile Welsh painter, native of Ligny en Barrois (55) in 1882, he appeared at the Salon de Nancy, notably in 1920 with two oils, St. Remy's Church in Reims and Old Woman in the Cantal. He also exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants and in 1924 presented The Cloud and The Cypress of La Turbie. He is generally classified as a neo-impressionist. He died in 1965 in Clichy la Garenne. Oil represents an urban landscape treated in the impressionist way
