Aluminum chair ea108 by charles and ray eames, vitra edition

After a life in a meeting room of a bank headquarters in belgium, these 6 iconic chairs have spent their last 10 years in the meeting room of a communication agency in france. De facto, they have been little used, which explains their very good condition. Their configuration is almost perfect. Structure and armrests in chrome aluminum, seat in mesh, material that gives lightness and a lot of presence to the object and that in view of the current wear, seems unbreakable (guarantee 30 years per vitra!). The ea 108, like many of the eames' products, is still in the vitra catalogue today for a price in this configuration above 2000 €. It is still its designers who talk about it best: The aluminium chair is one of the great classics in the history of 20th century design. Charles and ray eames designed and developed this seat in 1958 for the private residence of an art collector in columbus, indiana. For its construction, the designer couple abandoned the idea of the seat shell to stretch a fabric or leather panel between two aluminum side pillars, thus obtaining a firm but flexible seat. The seat adapts to the contours of the body and is extremely comfortable, even without sophisticated padding.
