Small Metal Vase Orivit - Decor Thrush

Small orivit metal vase with art nouveau period thrush décor. La société orivit ag. Was founded in 1894, under the name "rheinische broncegieserei fur kleinplastiken" in koln-ehrenfeld (germany), by wilhelm ferdinand hubert schmitz (1863-1939). From 1896, the company began to produce luxury items made of metal "orivit" (89.85% tin; 7.9% antimona; 1.9% copper and 0.12% silver). This orivit metal was richer and brighter than tin, and when polished, it had a similar shine to silver while being cheaper in production and undergoing only a smaller oxidation than silver or silver metal productions. Over the years, the company won many awards: in paris, the gold medal of the universal exhibition of 1900; in dusseldorf, the "1902 industrial design exhibition" prize and at the 1904 world's fair in st louis (usa), the 2nd grand prix and 1 gold medal. In 1905, the orivit company suffered a total financial bankruptcy and was bought by wmf "wurttembergische metalwaren fabrik", another famous german company producing metal articles. Subsequently, in 1906, orivit ag acquired another metal production company, orion, and more than 50 orion creations (many of them made by friedrich adler), were used by orivit. Thus, wmf produced metal articles, under the name orivit, until 1914. Dimensions: diameter: 7.5cm / height: 12.5cm. Good general condition with some spots that will leave without problem with the appropriate treatment and a slight deformation of the upper neck (these slight defects are visible in the photos).
