Description
Old pair of theater or opera binoculars in mother-of-pearl and golden brass. Napoleon III era. Superb pair of binoculars with sleeve also in mother-of-pearl. Pair of binoculars made in france for the importer and optical manufacturer gall & lemkbe located in the nineteenth century at 21 union square in new york city. Gall & lembke had these binoculars made by lemaire fabt in paris. It has the mention "made in france" in the center. They are adjustable and the system works. Very nice rare and unique piece in very good condition. Very nice object of curiosity in working order. Total dimension of 21 cm (8.3 inches) with the handle extended. The binoculars measure 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide by 5.4 cm (2.1 inches) high and 4 cm (1.6 inches) deep. The mother-of-pearl handle measures 11 cm (4.3 inches). Weight of 256 grams (0.6 pounds).
