Description
Oil on canvas, dimensions: 50 x 39 cm-with frame: 65.5 x 55.5 cm. Alice Binet is a painter of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, Normandy. She conducts workshop studies and a few portraits, collected by individuals. A member of the society of French artists in 1908, she exhibited in the Parisian salons and the Salon rouennais. She paints the worldly life and her friends, as the portrait of the painter Delaunay in 1913. Pupil of Raphaël Collin, of Paul Gervais and of Schommer, accustomed to the Institut Julian, she works very much. She honors her masters and her grandmother, a landscape painter of the Mediterranean. She is the daughter of the famous psychiatrist at the origin of the Binet-Simon tests. Alice Binet is admired for her talent as a portraitist. Captured on the bright, the models seem ready to move. The mastery of light, color and its raised touch combine with a technique reminiscent of the "Sfumato" of the Renaissance. The physiognies are in motion, they breathe intelligence. It frames the eyes of its models with long lashes and prominent eyebrow arches. To women, it gives a fresh complexion, pink cheeks, curls and a quivering nose.
