90/90 cm white wooden bamiléké stool. These white beauties are known as bamileke stools and come from cameroon and is an iconic african piece of furniture. They are also called king's stools, or bird nests and have traditionally been used by the bamileke tribe for public ceremonies. I cut them by hand from a continuous piece of wood. To do this, the lumber would first be thrown into the river to soften it, then the ornate web pattern would be hand-carved into hardwood. Any break in the wood would mean that the piece has been abandoned or this rupture is considered a break in the life cycle and therefore a bad omen. The complex pattern you see in these represents the spider's web of the earth, a symbol of divine wisdom. I make bamileke stools in a variety of styles and sizes, which includes. Dia 40cm X 45cm. 40cm X 50cm dia. Dia 40cm X 60cm. 40cm X 70cm dia. 40cm X 80cm dia. Note: the sizes above are approximate. I also make these stools in basically 3 colors; natural brown, black and white. In case you need another color, please let us know. Bamileke stools are a wonderful addition to a space, lending that organic and earthy touch that warms an elegant and modern space. They also work well in outdoor spaces, provided that the laquising is appropriate. So versatile and so fabulous!.
