Ryijy tapestry, designed by ritva puotila in 1960, titled: 'kaamos' (polar night). Label marked. This tapestry was manufactured in 1970, by the textile association friends of crafts of finland in helsinky. Virgin wool. Good condition and according to age. Good overall impression. About ritva puotila. During her student years, puotila worked with stained glass and carried her spirit into the first ryijy patterns she designed for competitions organized by the friends of finnish crafts. They were gold medal winners at the XII milan triennale in 1960. Among the tapestries exhibited was the one we sell here, kaamos (polar night). Puotila's cooperation with the friends of finnish crafts continued into the 2000s, accumulating multiple awards. Puotila has received awards for his career, including the finlandia prize and the kaj franck design award. His works are included in the collections of the world's most prestigious museums, including the moma collection of architecture and design, where our tapestry, kaamos, is also housed.
