Suitcase in wicker and rattan 50s

This beautiful wicker handbag has nice neat details: the small metal parts nicely worked, the original opening system, the wooden structure that makes it almost indestructible. It must be from the 50s or maybe 60s. It will be able to find a life as a vintage handbag, but would also make a nice book basket, or an original pocket in an entrance. I cleaned it carefully, first a dusting and then a leaching with brush and white vinegar. It is in good condition, solid, but does not hide its age: on the metal parts, the original gilding is largely patinated, with a little superficial corrosion in places, a broken strand underneath, 2 beetle holes (old but that I treated by conscience, by injection of crystal vinegar, it is my natural method to replace chemical insecticides). The attachments of the handle on the metal parts are a little worn, but it still holds very well, no problem of strength. In addition, a black adhesive was glued inside, not for repair purposes, because it is in very good condition, I would say that it was perhaps to prevent elements (such as a bunch of keys for example) from clinging to the wicker strands... I decided to leave it in place because you can't see it from the outside, and removing it could damage the bag. If you wish, you can also hide it, covering it with a nice piece of fabric sewn on the wicker strands. This bag measures 32 cm in length, 18 cm in width, 20 cm in height and 30 cm with the handle. It weighs about 600g.
