Vintage brass magazine rack, with etchings, foldable, 1940s, French

His vintage item has been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina and is ready to use. This mid-century magazine rack is a good example of an item described as "Hollywood Regency". The 18th century French engravings on the sides depict the grand tour of the Regency period. With its modernist design and neoclassical scroll patterns, this design is light and elegant. It has many features of house rings, the designer and manufacturer attributed. This storage is practical while maintaining a sense of style. It would make a smart finishing detail to a range of interiors such as traditional, art deco, Hollywood regency, 70s glamour, shabby chic or contemporary. Structurally, it is made of solid brass, several pieces bolted together. The handle and sides have a scroll pattern finished with a decorative finial. At the bottom, there are chopped cabriole feet. On the interior compartment at the bottom, there is a curved polished solid brass surface where the magazines are located. The interior sides are covered with fabric in a pale red tone. The 2 side panels are mounted on either side at an angle and suspended in decorative brass brackets. The exterior sides are equipped with two old celluloid engravings. The scenes are: “view of the village of Mola located by the sea”, general view of the port and the city of Syracuse, comic strip by Des Prez, engraved by H Guttemberg. “Second view of the surroundings of the town of Castro Giovanni”, comic strip by Claude Louis Chatelet, engraved by Du Parc (Emmanuel Jean Nepomucène de Ghendt). This magazine rack is in very good vintage condition. The frame is strong and sturdy with no missing parts. The original clear lacquer is present on the brass surfaces. The brass has a warm antique patina developed over the years with some tarnishing, minor rubbing and small marks. Celluloid panels are free from cracks and chips. The printed engravings are in very good condition. The fabric inside is in good condition with minor rubbing.
