Description
Vintage and artisanal wooden doll - mizaru, kikazaru and iwazaru. All kokeshis consist of two parts: a head and a body that is usually cylindrical and symbolizes the wish and desire to have a healthy child. These dolls are offered, in the japanese tradition, to declare friendship or love to the person who receives it. Made of dried wood between one and five years old, they are painted and decorated, then covered with lacque. "the monkeys of wisdom (also called "the three little monkeys") is a symbol of asian origin consisting of three monkeys, each of which covers a different part of the face with the hands: the first the eyes, the second the mouth and the third the ears. They form a kind of pictorial maxim: "do not see evil, do not hear evil, do not say evil". To the one who follows this maxim, it would only happen good" wikipedia.
