Description
Elaborate oak panel forming a large wall pipe door. Its perimeters are carved in acanthus leaves and windings, decorations all the more important at the top and on the base of this display. In the center, the letters 'e.p' are marked in the wood and surrounded by a frieze. Probably a century ago, the first owner of this property wanted to see his initials engraved. It is under this stamp that we chose to position a six-notch rank to hang as many pipes. Three pairs of relief motifs, arranged in symmetry, also adorn this curious object. One of them certainly represents nuts, which turn out to be hollow. This generously hectic and richly carved pipe holder is an amazing decorative element. We may even be able to find him a new role, such as that of darts holder next to a target for example. Unless a smoker or a collector restores its original function... Who knows! ******** Period: 1910 / 1920. Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Size: Maximum length: 63 cm. Maximum height: 70 cm. Ref: 370 n.
